The Lessons I learned from "The Office."

With the upcoming last episode of the office upon us, I thought it was only fair that I pay tribute to a show that impacted my life. People often make fun of me, because of my emotional attachment to fictional characters, but I find this trait about myself one of my best qualities. I love being caught up in a love story that seems unbreakable, making new friends by bonding over a tv show, quoting your favorite lines with your friends in your own everyday life, but my most favorite thing is growing alongside the characters and how a rerun of your favorite show can bring you back to a different time in your life.

The Office began when  I was a 14 year old freshman about begin high school I was still mourning the loss the of "Friends" and looking for a new T.V. Show to help fill that void.. It seems almost poetic to me how the 9 years of the office ends as I am graduating college. Who would have thought a half hour show once a week could enrich your life in so many ways? I loved growing up alongside the characters of the office, and I am forever thankful for the real life friendships that blossomed because  of this show.

When I was 17 my friends and I started watching the office together, we held "office parties" every thursday at 9pm. We put staplers in jello, made Schrute bucks, drank grape soda and even dressed like the characters sometimes.I looked forward to my Thursdays with my friend. The waiting patiently for Pam & Jim to get together, remember the fun run? Remember how Pam and Jim kissed? Sharing those moments not only with the characters but with your friends live, is a such a treasure.

When I was 19, Pam & Jim got married  I watched the show with college friends and I cried of pure joy. Jim's speech about "waiting for his wife..." so beautiful. Pam ripping her veil and Jim cutting his tie to make her feel better? The part where they run away together to get married on the maid of the midst? That episode is flawless. think I have watched it 11 times now, and I cry every time. My favorite thing about "Jam" is that they are ordinary people, who work in a office. They are just like you and me, but the magic between them is anything but ordinary. They represent real love that happens everyday. The show depicts their struggles, sacrifices, and success as a couple and it makes them all the more enchanting.

Now I am 23, just graduated college two weeks ago, I am at yet another transition in my life, just like I was 9 years ago. I am not sure where my life is going. but I do know that the office has enriched my life in so many ways, and I am forever grateful. I am so thankful for the comfort, laughter, tears of joy and sadness, I shared with the characters and fans of the office.

I will leave you with some of lesson the office taught me over the last 9 years.
